History was made in the savannah region yesterday as I was privileged to witness Sharaf Mahama foundation Gala Matches and Free medical screening organized for the good people of the savannah region.
Sharaf Mahama is the son of our former president, H.E JDM and incoming president in the making by his grace has attained an international license from FIFA to develop our youth who have talent and interest in Football.
The illustrious and proud son of Gonjaland , started this great initiative in his home, the savannah region, specifically, Damongo,the regional capital.
Sharaf Mahama was accompanied by his snr. brother, Shafik Mahama, Samuel kofi Atta mills, son of late President Attah Mills, Seidu Sakara,son of Dr. Abu Sakara Foster and some of his friends stormed Damongo yesterday .
Some of the activities they under took was the organization of Gala matches competition and Free medical screening for the good people savannah region.
This historic event was attended by some of our hardworking regional executives and constituency executives of our great party.
In attendance were Alhji Inusah, Regional Youth Organizer with his 2 deputies, our venerable parliamentary candidate, Hon. Garlus who was the special guest of honor ,Hon. Mumuni Yahaya kiyoyo, workerholic constituency communication officer, Hon. Iddrisu B Abdul Rahaman, industrious constituency organizer, Hon. Ananpansah B Abraham, affable and history making Assemblyman for Canteen electoral area who also doubles as the president of NDC Teachers Forum savannah regional chapter and professor Abu Nawass , humble deputy constituency communication officer with other executives of our party have graced this important ceremony.
The gala competition was participated by 4 teams in the constituency, Mole Nationals of Damongo, Canteen FC , Blue city FC from Busunu and Larabanga pro fc.
At the end of the competition Mole nationals of Damongo were crowd champions with a resounding victory against Blue city Fc .
Awards were given to all the teams that participated in the gala competition and players with excellent performance.
The first team, Mole nationals of Damongo had ghc6000 plus set of jersey and 3 football, second runner up Blue city fc had ghc4000 plus set of jersey and 3 football, 3rd runner up Canteen FC had ghc 3000 plus jersey and 3 football and the 4th team Larabanga pro fc had Ghc 2000 plus set of jersey and 3 football .
Individual players were also given some awards for their brilliance performance in the games, Benjamin of Mole nationals had the best player of the tournament award, Yussif Hanan of Mole nationals had the top goal scorer award and Blue City Fc keeper had the best goal keeper award.
It was a historic moment at the Damongo Astro turf where more than 1000 people were screened and given medications free by Sharaf Mahama foundation to improve upon their health status.
A lot of people across the length and breadth of the savannah region have graced this significant ceremony.
This initiative is taken by Sharaf Mahama to unearth the talent of our young ones and expose them to the outside world so that, they can achieve their ambitions in sports which is worth commendable.
It was a great moment in Damongo because such of it kind has never happened in the region ,so we are most grateful to Sharaf Mahama foundation for this well elaborated initiative.
Our young players were motivated very well by Sharaf Mahama to take football very serious and assured them of his readiness for any support and guidance.
We the good people of savannah region are always proud of him and will always pray for Allah to guide and protect him and his entire family against any calamities.
We say thank you Sharaf Mahama foundation and the entire crew most especially the medical team from Spain, Germany, Italy and those from Ghana.
